- Identify clock restoration requirements
- Identify prior modifications and repairs, including non-standard or non-original components
- Plan repairs in consideration of original clock design and manufacture
- Record and document repair
- Service and repair power equalisation devices
- Release mainspring power
- Diagnose system faults
- Replace fusee chains or cables
- Set up fusee and stopwork systems
- Produce clock parts by hand
- Plan suitable method and sequence of production
- Select materials suitable for manufacturing
- Transfer designs and mark out templates and work pieces
- Select appropriate hand tools to undertake process
- Produce components by hand to required specifications
- Conduct finishing, heat treatment and polishing of components
- Verify function of manufactured components
- Refinish and polish clock components
- Refinish parts to replicate original finish
- Adjust refinished components for correct function
- Repair gears, wheels and arbors
- Fit, file and shape replacement teeth
- Secure replacement part using appropriate fixing method
- Test-run with matched component
